i'm feeling lucky, my arse
You'd think it was a fairly straightforward request. I would like to find a website where people say what they think about tyres for cars, review and compare them, what their strengths and weaknesses are, how reliable they are, what value they offer, number of stars out of 5, that sort of thing.
I ride bicycles. I buy bits for bikes, I sell bits for bikes. I like buying good stuff and if I buy bad stuff I don't mind warning others against it. So mtbr.com is an excellent resource: people who have bought the stuff say what they think of it. I know that there are probably many more people out there who get geeky about their cars, and which bits to replace, add on or improve, than there are people who do it about bikes. And the sites on which they do this should be easy enough to find, there's always the ubiquitous and newly communist-friendly Google.
So why on earth does including the word "review" or "comparison" in your Google search text switch on some sort of terrible AskJeeveriser which produces page upon page of duff links? If I wanted to click through hundreds of pages of auto-generated click harvesting evil pointless stupid stupid stupid advertising revenue pages preying on people's curiosity and need for information, I'll search for "free iPod", "low cost loan" or "online viagra prescription", thanks.
Post Script: my usual favourite helpful search engine, BrainBoost was sadly not much use in this case either. If anyone knows where I can find out which (non high-performance) tyres are good value and why, answers to the usual address...
